英語の文章で、よく、あるモノあるいは人に関して書くときに、1回目はその名前をちゃんと書くんだけど、2回目にそのモノあるいは人が出てくるときには、そのモノあるいは人を、固有名詞ではなく別のその人を特定しうる表現で言い換える、ということがありますよね。
例えば以下のような。

Few players of the Chess Players Association of India (CPAI) suspected that controversial IM Diwakar Prasad Singh could be using unfair means during his match against city lad Arghyadip Das, and demanded that Singh be thoroughly checked.
（中略）
Following the appeals made by a section of the players again today, India’s highest-rated IM was frisked

"India’s highest-rated IM"というのが"IM Diwakar Prasad Singh"の言い換えなわけですが。


これって、このモノあるいは人（この場合IM Diwakar Prasad Singh）が、その表現（India’s highest-rated IM）によって名指されているものであることを知っていることを前提にして、こういう表現をするのかなあ。


それとも、読者に、そのモノあるいは人が、このようなモノなんですよ〜と紹介するために、わざと言い換えるのかなあ。


後者だとすれば若干分かりにくいよね。
慣れてないからかもしれないですが。
